Autism Technology
ACE is partnering with Tony Gentry, Ph.D., OTR/L, director of the Assistive Technology for Cognition Laboratory, Department of Occupational Therapy, VCU to explore and share strategies for using emerging consumer electronics as cognitive-behavioral tools. This work draws on a decade of research in the ATC Lab utilizing handheld devices to support people with autism at home, at school, at work, and in the community. Current tools in use include Apple iPod touches and iPads, Android tablets, and smartphones, along with useful apps that allow truly individualized supportive suites. For additional information on autism-related technology research, please see our Autism Technology Resources.
