Teaching students with ASD is often an intensely rewarding experience, but it is not always easy. Each student has complex needs and is unique in their strengths and abilities. Engaging students with ASD in the educational process often requires specific strategies and a very individualized educational plan. Our training opportunities and resources are designed to assist educators in becoming more knowledgeable of accepted evidence-based practices, more skilled at implementing best practices in their classrooms, and more connected with other professionals throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. Our trainings, tools, and resources are designed to help educators choose and implement appropriate strategies based on their students’ strengths, challenges, and characteristics. At VCU-ACE, you can choose from more in-depth month long facilitated courses, hour long webcast presentations by regional and national autism experts, short seminars, or even quick five to ten minute How To and Ask the Expert videos. The MyACE Dashboard is also available. The Dashboard is a customizable way to access a variety of training opportunities and track your professional development activities. This portal helps guide you through different topic-based modules and allows you to earn ‘badges’ along the way. The Dashboard makes finding the right training at the right time that much easier.
