Supporting Students with Autism in the Public Schools

This workshop offers training for special education teachers, instructional assistants, general education teachers, school administrators, school psychologists and school counselors.

It fulfills the requirements of House Bill 325, which goes into effect in September of 2014 and ensures that paraprofessionals working with students with autism have received appropriate training. The workshop focuses on the skill competencies identified in “Training Standards for Paraprofessionals Assigned to Work with a Teacher Who has Primary Oversight of Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder,” adopted by the Virginia Board of Education in January 10, 2013.

The workshop combines lecture, video, role play and practice to help participants learn how to design, implement and evaluate instructional and environmental changes in order to produce significant changes in behavior.

Workshops are held at VIA, and we can customize the workshop and bring it to you.

Upcoming workship dates: July 21-23, 2014. For more information, click here.
