VDOE Announces Roundtable Sessions on Proposed Regulations on use of Restraint and Seclusion

RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) will conduct three stakeholder roundtable sessions regarding the Board of Education’s proposed regulations governing the use of restraint and seclusion in the commonwealth’s public schools. The proposed regulations were presented to the state board during its February meeting. The dates and locations of the public hearings are as follows:

  • Tuesday, October 4, 2016 - Stafford
    5 – 8 p.m.
    Brooke Point High School Auditorium
    1700 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554
  • Wednesday, October 5, 2016 – Daleville
    5 – 8 p.m.
    Lord Botetourt High School Auditorium
    1435 Roanoke Road, Daleville, VA 24083
  • Tuesday, October 11, 2016 – Hampton
    5 – 8 p.m.
    Hampton School Board Office
    First floor, Veterans Conference Room
    One Franklin Street, Hampton, VA 23669

Opportunity for public input will follow each roundtable session. The total time allotted for public input will be limited to thirty minutes. Individuals seeking to provide input will be allotted three minutes each. Persons who wish to speak should contact VDOE in advance of the session at 804-225-2013 or ODRAS@doe.virginia.gov. Speakers are requested to provide multiple written copies of their remarks.
