Vision:
Every student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will receive appropriate supports and Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) to enable them to benefit from their education and to prepare them to enter adulthood.
Mission:
To provide students with Autism Spectrum Disorder the highest quality of education by:
- Increasing staff knowledge and implementation of Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) with fidelity
- Improving post-secondary readiness skills to promote personal independence
- Improving communication with school and community stakeholders to increase awareness of autism
- Utilizing data-driven decision-making to implement programming
- Providing an individualized continuum of services & strategies
Beliefs:
- All learners are unique individuals.
- Students will/can meet their individual potential.
- Students deserve to be treated with dignity.
- Students deserve to be included in the full school community.
- Students deserve to be given choices.
- Successful student transition is dependent upon consistent and collaborative programming between sending team and receiving team for each student (level-to-level, school-to-school).
- Staff needs to be teachable and flexible.
- Staff will approach students expecting their highest level of potential.
- Social-Communication is equal to self-advocacy is equal to independence.
- Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) are necessary however staff needs to use appropriate one for individual student (Differentiation).
- Coaching is essential to develop a continuity of services.
- Parents are vital members of a student’s decision-making teams.
- Education is an investment that is sustainable when all stakeholders (Parents, Admin., related services, employers, teaching teams, gen. ed. staff) collaborate to implement practices with fidelity.
