Topic: The Comprehensive Autism Planning System: Purpose and Overview
Presenter(s): Shawn Henry
The Comprehensive Autism Planning System (CAPS) is a comprehensive, yet easy-to-use system that provides a framework to assist educators in implementing an instructional program for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The CAPS helps educators determine when to target critical goals, including those related to communication and social skills; identify the structure, supports, and instructional strategies required; as well as delineate the data collection to be used to ensure students are progressing.
In this presentation, a description of CAPS is provided. This is followed by a discussion about the many purposes of CAPS and why it is important to use when teaching students with ASD.
