Topic: Secondary Characteristics
Presenter(s): Dawn Hendricks
It’s important to understand that there are primary and secondary characteristics associated with ASD. In other words, these secondary characteristics are not required for a diagnosis but are common among many individuals on the spectrum. Secondary characteristics that affect the individual with ASD are as individualized as anything else—every person is different. Some of these characteristics may be present in an individual you know, and others may not. In this presentation, we will discuss other challenges such as imitation, sequencing, executive functioning, and motor challenges.
