Topic: Social Skills

Presenter(s): Alicia Hart, B.A. Training Associate

Social skills are one of the most important skills an individual can learn.  Living in a world full of people, social skills are crucial to functioning every single day for every single person in almost any environment.  However, social development in the individual with ASD may be dramatically different than that of typically developing peers.  In this presentation, we will discuss the definition of social skills, joint attention, reciprocity, perspective taking, emotional development, play and leisure skills, social rules, and friendship.
